Come share in our lives!

Deployment Journal-May 07

1 May 07: So, we finally made it to May. It’s only been 2 1/2 weeks but I’m all about baby steps! Today was my day off and it was nice although it was very hot today. I don’t think there’s much humidity here but it’s a lot more than I’m used to, that’s for sure! I didn’t do much of anything today because my girlfriend Kelly needed to catch up on sleep and slept in. I watched a couple of movies and took a nap while I waited for her to get up and then we went to turn in laundry, to drop off uniforms at the dry cleaners and then we got a coffee. That was the extent of my day! I did get to chat with Chris for a few minutes on Yahoo! and I always look forward to that. I miss him so much! He put some new pictures of the kids up too and I can already see a difference in Miles. I told him to tell him to stop growing!

**Meal of the day didn’t look good at all (enchiladas) so I just had a burger. At this point, I am dying for some chicken! LOL

2 May 07: There will not be an entry for today but rest assured, I am fine.

3 May 07:Sorry about the no post from yesterday. Chris’ Aunt “Neesie” died unexpectedly on the first and I was so grief stricken by the news that it did not seem important enough to post about anything else. Not everyone had been notified yesterday so I did not want someone to find out through this. :( I don’t even know what to say. At this point, I still do not know how she died but Chris and the kids are leaving today to head back to PA for the viewing on Friday and then the funeral on Saturday. Aunt Neesie was such a wonderful person and she has always been there for us. She served as his mother after she passed away many, many years ago. She came out to visit and help out when Miles was in the NICU and was the only one that was allowed in there besides Chris and I. She also came out to visit and lend a hand when I deployed last time when Miles was just 7 months old. She was just that kind of person who was always there, no matter what. Thankfully I was able to talk to her before I left to head over here and Chris just talked to her the day before. I am devastated by the news and also that I am not there to comfort my husband in this time of sorrow. He has enough on his plate with being home by himself with the kids and now he has this on top of everything else. He lost his grandfather recently too and it seems as though the hits keep on coming. It is very hard to be so far away and feel so helpless. She will be missed more than she knows…

Here is Aunt Denise with Miles. We love you Aunt Neesie and you will always be in our hearts!!

4 May 07:Well, Chris and the kids made it safely to PA so that’s one less thing for me to worry about. I will be relieved once they don’t have to fly anymore. I got a card from Chris in the mail yesterday that made my day. I am glad I didn’t it the day before or I would have been in tears worse. It’s been a rough couple of days. I also got a nice card from my mom! :) I tried to keep in mind some funny things to share from the last couple of days. On Tuesday, when Kelly and I went to the DFAC, I dropped my weapon. That is a big “no no” around here and everyone stopped, stared at me and said, “Oooh!!!” Thankfully it wasn’t my fault or I could have been chewed out. The strap came undone and it was very clear that’s what happened because I was standing there holding the very end of it. I know I turned 30 shades of red and I did not look at anyone the rest of the time I was in there. I just wanted to eat quick and get out of there! Females here stand out so I know people are going to see me around and think, “That’s the girl that dropped her weapon.” Funny thing is that the same thing happened to Kelly yesterday so I didn’t feel quite as bad but here’s wasn’t in the middle of a busy DFAC. Oops! Hopefully that is the last embarrassing thing that happens. There are quite a few birds around here and hopefully I can get some pictures soon. They have the little house finches just like I have back in Tucson and they are so cute to watch hop around. I got a fantastic shot of one of them today sitting on the barbed wire fence with the mountains blurred in the background. I can’t wait to upload it when I get back to my room. Today is Leah’s day off and I leave my computer with her so she can get online and have something to do when she’s not hanging out with Nate so I can’t upload it until then. Pede (the guy that likes to show his “finger”) gave us all some entertainment today at one of the poor Army girls expense. If you look at my album, you will see the picture. One of the Army guys came to tell him that she was asleep in her office so he went to take a picture. They have had a war going on for some time now so he jumped at the chance. One of the other guys was a Photoshop whiz and hooked up a nice little picture like she was dreaming about the two of them. It was hilarious. I had everyone gathered around my computer at work to look at it and everyone was laughing. It’s the simple things that amuse us over here. Sometimes that’s all that gets us through the day.

**Meal of the day was steak, shrimp and cheesy mashed potatoes! Yummy! I got plenty of shrimp for leftovers to have for lunch tomorrow!! Have I mentioned that I love surf and turf Fridays yet???

5 May 07:It’s 9:30 p.m. and I’m finally just getting a little break from my work. Thankfully, I have had a ton work today which has been so great! If I could have work like this to do every day, I’d be a happy camper! It sure does make the days fly by! It was a very windy day today and very smokey. I’d hate to see what the burn pits are doing to my lungs. That’s the only time any of us speed on base, passing the disgusting burn pits. They burn everything here and I hope you can’t even imagine the smell. I’ve been texting back and forth with Chris today and he just got back from the funeral. I am so glad that’s over for him but I know the grieving process will be long. The kids are loving PA though so that makes me even more anxious to get back there! That’s about it for today. Nothing exciting to report… once again.

**Meal of the day was a burger. They had Chinese food and everyone that went to the early dinner said it wasn’t very good.

06 May 07: Today is just kind an off day for me. I’m not sure why but I just don’t feel like doing much. I wish I had as much work yesterday as I did yesterday. Things keep getting messed up somehow so that’s been a good challenge for me to be able to have some stuff for me to fix and use that brain power. It seems like a never ending battle. I’ve just been steadily plugging away at my latest book. I am reading “The Island” by Heather Graham. This is the 2nd book I’ve read of hers and they do pretty well at keeping my attention. I read “Picture Me Dead” while I was here last time. If anyone knows of any cheap places to pick up books and can find any of her books, it would be much appreciated if you sent them over!! I hope that I get some mail tomorrow because it’s been 3 days since I’ve gotten any and I’m already missing it. Chris is headed back home today so I’m just waiting to find out that they made it home safely. I am sure that the family will be missing them. The kids loved it there and I’m sure they were a good distraction. That’s about it for today.

~~Just added-I forgot to mention that one of the guys caught a camel spider. For those of you who know me, I absolutely cannot stand spiders and these things take the cake as far as being gross. Still, wanting to share the experience with family and friends, I got close enough to take a picture. Eww!!!

**Meal of the day was Subway!! I didn’t feel like going anywhere so Kelly went to Subway and picked us up dinner and then lunch for tomorrow. I got a meatball sub for dinner and a roast beef sub for lunch tomorrow. It’s pretty good!

07 May 07:My OCD is in high gear today. All I have wanted to do all day is clean. This place is just so dirty and it’s impossible to keep up with so it drives me nuts! It’s bittersweet seeing the guys here packing up to go home. Some of them are great and there are others that I will be happy to see go, but it makes me long for when it’s our time to leave. Time seems to be inching by today. It took me about an hour tops to do all my work for today. I’m almost finished with my book though. I had a hard time putting it down last night. I’ll finish it tonight for sure since I am off work tomorrow! I received a small package from Chris today that had a nice heart from Harmony and a drawing that Miles had done at preschool. I also got a card that “sang” from Chris that had me cracking up! Thank you honey! I have to share the caption on the picture that Miles drew because I was laughing over it for a quite a while and sharing it with everyone at work. It read, “This is my rocketship that lives in Tucson. My ship makes tricks in the sand. It crash and the man on the plane is not ok he died.” Out of the mouth of babes…

**Meal of the day was Mexican again so I had another burger. I can’t wait for the food schedule to get back to the normal chicken 5 nights a week!

08 May 07:Today was a great day! It’s nice to actually look forward to days off because it won’t always be that way. Today Kelly and I slept in, went to the BX and did some shopping, got a coffee and chatted for a while and picked up our uniforms. We came back to our rooms to drop our stuff off and then we went and got 30 minute back massages. That was my first real massage and I’m not quite sure what I thought of it. It wasn’t the best thing but it wasn’t the worst either. I felt very relaxed afterwards, that’s for sure. After that, we went to pick up and drop off laundry and then we headed to the squadron to check for mail. Much to my surprise, I had 2 packages!! I was so excited. One was from Melinda and she sent me word search books, snacks, Altoids, lemonade mix, jerky and homemade jerky! Thank you so much Melinda!! I already sampled your homemade jerky and it’s wonderful! She also include some drawings from Mallory and Dillon (her 2 adorable children) and those are proudly displayed in my room! The second package was from my Bunko friends!! They told me they were going to put a package together every month when they got together to play and I just was so touched by that! They sent me lots of snacks and jerky, books (which was perfect timing since I am on my last book), magazines, lotion, wipes, mints, hooks to hang stuff up on and a Mother’s Day card!! Thank you so much ladies!! (If I forgot to mention anything from your packages, I apologize. I am going off of memory and there was a lot to remember! :) ) This was truly a great day!

**We were too lazy to walk to chow after our massages so we just snacked for dinner.

09 May 07: It was very hot here today! I wish I had a way of finding out what the temperature was because it was definitely the hottest day yet! I’ve begun to think about the things that I took for granted at home. It amazes me that we are limited to 3 minute “combat showers” but it takes 5 minutes to flush a toilet with the water constantly running. Sometimes I just don’t understand how girls can be such slobs. The first sergeant was a little upset last night and said she was going to put a note on the bathroom door that said, “You didn’t deploy with your mother or your maid!” These girls don’t want to take the time required to actually flush the toilets so they’ll hit the handle briefly and then leave. That makes other girls have to come in behind them and flush the toilet before we use the facilities. It is rather annoying. Also, we have a cypher lock on the door to keep other people out. If you live there, you have the combo and are allowed it. Well, I don’t know if it’s because of the dust or what but sometimes it sticks. Someone got annoyed because it sticks and decided to put some tape on it so that it wouldn’t lock. The last thing I want is some random person walking in there when I’m in the shower. It’s the complete laziness of some people that just floors me.

**Meal of the day was some Easy Mac. We didn’t have enough people around to take a late dinner so I opted to stay.

10 May 07: I’m kind of in a funk today. These guys here that are getting ready to leave are in bad moods. I can’t say that I blame them because they’re having to live in a metal hangar on cots and it’s not comfortable and they’re not getting much sleep. However, there are a few of them that just have horrible attitudes and run their mouths a lot more than they need to. They should be happy they’re leaving. I could care less where I was living if I knew I was on my way home to Chris and the kids but maybe that’s just me. Anyway, tempers are flaring and I’m just waiting for them to leave and for the new group to get settled. It’s too early in our tour for this stuff.

**Meal of the day was chicken cordon bleu!

11 May 07: Today was a good laughing day. I was in tears a few times from laughing so hard. You’d be amazed at the stupid stuff that we find funny over here. It’s stuff that people would probably look at us cross-eyed over if we were laughing about it back home. Half the time, we can’t even remember what was so funny 5 minutes later. A lot of the guys that are here from the other base like to make me crack up. I guess they aren’t used to a female like me that’s not quite so sensitive. I can hang with the best of them and laugh about stuff that other women might find offensive. I guess when you have been in as long as I have, you just learned to be a little more thick skinned. The wind was really nasty today and my poor eyes are quite red. I will be glad when the windy days are over but if the guys here are right, we have 70 more days of it left. Ugh!

**Meal of the day was king crab and mac and cheese.

12 May 07: Today was a boring day and I just can’t wait to back to my room and go to bed. The girls next door were moving furniture and slamming against the wall and it woke me up. I got about an hour of sleep so that’s the reason for the short post today.

**Meal of the day was a pizza.

13 May 07: Happy Mother’s Day to all those mommies out there! I am trying to keep my spirits up today. I’m going to start this early so I don’t forget to post about important things. I finally got some sleep and I am definitely bright eyed and bushy tailed today! :) When we got into work we found out that our efforts over here, “got” someone very important. Here’s the news story. It’s always exciting for us to see our work in action. After I posted yesterday, I received a Mother’s Day package from Grandma Louise which was a great surprise! She sent me some bags of pretzels and bags of jerky! Thank you so much Grandma Louise. I have a funny story to go with the note she put in the box too. I was headed back to the rooms with one of the other guys from work who got a package from his wife. It was very windy again yesterday (they definitely were not kidding about the 100 days of wind). Well, we all burn our envelopes and cut out the addresses from our boxes because people go through the trash here and they advise us to burn any personal data. There was a hole in the box from where I cut out her address and when I walked out the door with my box, her note flew out of it and was long gone. I was really bummed about it because it said “Happy Mother’s Day” on it and I wanted to put it up on my wall. BK said when we got back, we’d walk the fence line and see if it was still there. So, when we got back, we broke out our flashlights and headed for the fence line. We got all the way down to the gate to the munitions storage area and there it was!! I was so excited and I’m even excited to write back to her and thank for the package and to share my funny story about losing her note and finding it down the road an hour or so later! Also, last night when the guys walked back from the pad, one of them had a look on his face like he had seen a ghost and the other one was just shaking his head. Turns out, they walked right passed a 5 foot snake and didn’t see it until they were passed it. The snakes that they have here are the deadliest in the world so they were more than a little freaked out. Someone had already seen it and cut it’s head off but it was still moving. Snakes don’t really scare me all that much but I’m thinking if I passed by a deadly snake in the dark and then found out that I had passed it without knowing it, I’d be a little freaked out myself. I just hope to be able to get close enough to one to take a picture to share without putting myself in danger. I may just have to take a picture of the poster they have on the wall that shows the different types we have here. When I got back to my room last night, there was a card on my bed from Amanda. I thought that was the sweetest thing that she had gotten me a Mother’s Day card and the note she wrote inside had me smiling! She’s such a sweetheart. I do not ever expect people who do not have children to remember to recognize that it’s a special day, especially not to me so that was extra special! I have been helping out a customer of mine for a couple of weeks who is a “rookie” (as he calls himself) to how to run an ammo account. I finally got the ammo for him that he needed for his account and when he came out to pick it up today and I loaded it in his truck for him, he gave me a coin. He’s Medivac and he told me that coin is very rare. I am honored to have it! I will take a picture of it and put it on my website tonight. Customer service jobs in the Air Force are much different than the outside world and there are definitely some perks!

**Meal of the day was fantastic!! I had roast beef, mashed potatoes and a chocolate cookie. (I treated myself since it was Mother’s Day.)

14 May 07: The old base left and the new base is here so it’s been interesting watching everyone come and go. The critters are definitely out now. There’s been 7 camel spiders that I know of and 3 snakes. I was able to get a picture of the dead snake that they caught last night so I will post that later just so you can see what they look like. Obviously it’s a little gruesome since they had to cut the head off so if you don’t want to see it, you may not want to look at my album. My singing talents have again been requested and I will be singing for a change of command ceremony on the 17th. As soon as the captain saw me today, he asked me what time I normally get up. I knew then and there that he was probably going to ask me to sing. That should be interesting. There’s no privacy here so I don’t really have a place to practice so I’m a little nervous but hopefully I will do just fine like I always do. I got a Mother’s Day card from my mom today so that made my day! Thank you Mom!! :)

**Meal of the day was Quesadillas.

15 May 07:I had a great day off today! Last night was sad though. They announced that they were having a Fallen Comrade ceremony so we stayed up to go to that. It is a very sobering experience as the casket with the flag draped over it passes by you. It definitely makes you remember why we’re here. I’m glad that Kelly, Leah and Nate came with me. BK was there too. I plan on going to as many as I can as sad as they are. These soldiers deserve the respect of everyone. They paid the ultimate price. Anyway, we slept in a little bit because we got back late from the ceremony. We did our normal trip to the BX, uniforms, coffee, laundry, etc. An old friend of mine from Whiteman is here and Kelly knows him from VA too so we got to hang out and catch up with him too so that was really nice. Then we finally walked out to the shop and it didn’t take us as long as I had expected. I think it’s 2 1/2 miles. We got tons of pictures which I put on the website already. Then we went and hung out at work for a bit just to relax before walking back and we went to hang out with Huff for a little bit. We went up on the roof of his building and you could see for miles up there so that was pretty neat! After that, we walked back through the flightline and back to our rooms. I got a package from Chris and the kids today with Mother’s Day stuff in it so that, of course, made my day! He sent me some eye covers so I don’t have to get blinded by all the light during the day while I’m sleeping. That should definitely help me sleep better! I got to see where the guy works that gave me the coin the other day so that was pretty cool. He said that sometimes they need people to “play patient” so he would let us know if they needed that so we could go up in the Medivac helicopter. That would make my entire trip here!!

**Again, we just snacked today since we did all that running around.

16 May 07:Not much interesting to report today. It was a very slow and boring day. I did have the giggles quite a bit and the captain did not help with that at dinner. That guy is a riot! I don’t think I’ve ever known an officer like him. He definitely keeps me on my toes. I have been bumped back up to #1 though. Just as I was typing this, I got a very sweet card from Grandma and Grandpa Bechetti. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful extended family!! I will be loading a few more pictures on the website tonight. There’s actually another picture of me as much as I hate them.

**Meal of the day was a “cannonball” sandwich (meatball sub).

17 May 07:Well the change of command ceremony went okay this morning. I sang well but the mic cut out on me after 2 notes. Just as I brought it down to my side and kept singing, it started working again but it was too late. Thankfully I have a very strong singing voice so it carried throughout the clamshell. It’s not like I could stop singing in the middle of the National Anthem and start over. I was nervous to begin with and that did not help! I had to sing in front of a 1 star general. The captain suspects that I will be singing at more functions after everyone heard me today. I had lots of compliments “despite the technical difficulties”. It was funny because the captain thought I had stopped singing and about freaked out until he realized what had happened. Anyway, other than that, it was a pretty crappy day. Accountability is a big problem here and that makes my job hell. I’m tired too because I had to get up so early but I’ll be fine tomorrow.

**We had Subway again tonight.

18 May 07: Today was another day of being exhausted from lack of sleep the night before but that’s okay. I will definitely sleep good tonight. Today was an awesome day though! I got to go see Toby Keith in concert!!! I just love that he goes where we go and he put on a great show for just standing in a hangar! I took tons of pictures but it was at night so I have to clean them up first so they look better. That will probably be one of the most memorable experiences of my deployment!

**I passed on dinner to go to the concert so I had my leftover sandwich from Subway for lunch.

19 May 07: I had a fantastic day today!! I got some sleep last night so that was wonderful. I ran into one of our chief’s from back home and he asked me if I would be at work so I told him that I would. He said that I needed to be there between 1600-1630 and he was going to come see me. Turns out, the new Maintenance Group Commander and the chief wanted to come out to present me with a coin for standing out for singing the National Anthem at his change of command ceremony. It was so awesome to be recognized for what I do. That hardly happens back at home. Chief gave a very nice speech about how Ammo is doing a lot of good things, “but some people shine above the rest and we’re here to recognize her”. The commander called me up and presented me with the coin and thanked me for singing for his ceremony. It was another rare coin. Apparently, he’s a Guard commander because the coin is from a Guard unit in Michigan. I took pictures of it so I will put those on my website tonight. We went to dinner this evening and we always have a good time at dinner. We stopped to get coffee on the way back and when we do that, we always get coffee for whoever wants it. So there we are, BK, Kelly and I, on the way back all holding coffees and we just got the giggles. I had tears streaming down my face and couldn’t wipe them off because I had coffee all over my hands. I didn’t realize until the last few years and I keep forgetting to mention it to my mom that laughs are apparently hereditary. My mom starts to lose her breath when she laughs and I do that now. I didn’t think I was going to be able to breathe again after I starting laughing. Every day over here should be like this.

**Meal of the day was a burger (they had Chinese food but it’s not very good here).

20 May 07: Nothing new and exciting to report about today. I am swamped with work today which I am loving. Absolutely nothing else is going on.

**I was too busy to go to dinner tonight so I had a burger brought back for me.

21 May 07:Today will be another short post. Something hit me like a ton of bricks out of the blue today and I just feel awful. They sent me home from work early and my boss gave me some meds to try. I hope they work because this is the last place I want to be sick. I guess it’s just the Bagram crud like everyone else has gotten.

22 May 07: I had a great day off today. We didn’t have to do any of the normal stuff that we do. We got up, walked out to work, got to suntan on what Kelly and I have dubbed “the roof” and even got a half decent picture of myself. It was a fantastic day today!! I am still nursing whatever sickness this is but it’s gotten better. I’m hoping one more good night of rest and I’ll be back to normal again.

23 May 07:Today was a great day despite the fact that I’m exhausted still. I think I’m still a little run down from being sick for the past couple of days. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be back to normal. I need to play catch up a little bit with updates. I have received quite a few packages in the last few days. Two of which were a complete shock to me! I got two huge packages from Grandma Bechetti’s cousin “Rayne”. Wow! I could not believe the amount of stuff she sent over! I don’t know if you have computer access or if you’ll see this but thank you from the bottom of my heart! I was truly touched by your generosity as well as all the other troops here serving with me. Thank you so much for what you do for the soldiers! She sent tons, and I do mean tons, of snacks, books, magazines, pens, hygiene products, calling cards, stationary, etc. It was absolutely incredible!!! I also got a package from Chris that had a new webcam, some make-up I asked for and a beautiful drawing from Harmony. It is so great to get mail! :)

**Meal of the day was fried chicken, mashed potatoes and rice pilaf.

24 May 07: Nothing to report today. It was a very busy work day for me and it was windy, windy, windy!! 60 something more days of wind I think. Ugh!

**Meal of the day was chicken strips.

25 May 07: Today is a cold and windy day. I am running off just a few hours of sleep. We had to get up in the middle of the night to go check in at the squadron. I was still asleep and that happened just before 0400 and I was still up. When I got back, I was wide awake so I didn’t get to sleep until 0700 and had to get up at 1030 so I am very, very tired today. We had the General, the commander that gave me the coin, another full bird colonel, the major, the Chief and the Command Chief all come out today for a visit. It was nice to get some face time. The chief pointed out to the General that I was the one who sang the National Anthem at the change of command ceremony so he shook my hand and told me thank you. That is the first time in my 12 year career that I was able to shake hands with a general. It was the highlight of my day. It may not mean much to others but it was a huge deal to me! They had some pictures from the change of command ceremony on the shared drive today so I added those to the website. I have a cool picture I got of the sunset tonight and I’ll be posting that when I get back home.

**Meal of the day was shrimp and baked mac and cheese!

26 May 07: Another month is finally almost over. We are exactly a month and a half in today. I guess when you look back, it’s kind of moving on along but looking forward seems like an eternity. Thankfully I finally got some sleep last night. I sure needed it! It was another windy day and it is really getting old. My eyes have so much dirt and sand in them that they are always red. I’d love to just have normal looking eyes again. Other than the wind, there was nothing exciting to share today. Oh, but I did see a huge camel spider in the shop. I was coming in the door from dinner and he was being chased out. I screamed and ran. Ha ha! Those things are so gross!!

**Meal of the day was veal.

27 May 07: I got another good night of sleep and I feel ever better today. They have the DFAC here all decorated for Memorial Day which is kind of funny because it’s not like we get any days off. That’s alright though. Other than that, there’s nothing interesting going on as usual. Still, a boring day here is a good one.

**Meal of the day was a burger.

28 May 07: Today was a great day. I’ve been asked if I was crazy because I keep crap inside and then eventually just need to let it out. Well, at home, I watch Grey’s Anatomy and it always makes me cry and then I get it all out of my system. Well obviously here, I can’t do that and I hadn’t had a good cry since Aunt Denise died. Well this morning, it just kind of came out. It was good though because I got a little purge of my system and then I had a great day. We had commander’s call this afternoon. They are not like they are in the states. They are short, sweet and to the point so it’s great! BK and I go to dinner late every night but we decided to go a little earlier tonight so we were there for part of the meal with the rest of the guys. That was a nice change of pace. Huff was there too and it’s always nice to be around him. He keeps me laughing to say the least! There are some great people here! I got to watch a bunch of helicopters fly around tonight too which is always a treat for me. There is nothing else in the world like that sound and I just love watching them so much. I hope that day comes when I get to go for a ride in one here. I just try to imagine what this place would like from the air. It gives me the chills every time I think of it! I also got a huge care package from Lora and Chris today. I knew it was coming but had no idea how big this thing would be! I was so touched to get such a nice package. I had to laugh because Lora put some fillers in there of bubble wrap and bright colored tissue paper. The bubble wrap definitely served a double purpose today as a stress reliever. I put it in my desk drawer marked as “Naylor’s stress relief”. :) I am having flags flown over here like I did last time but I’m going to have mine flown in as many aircraft as I can. I will be getting my first one back tomorrow so I’m looking forward to that. If anyone reading this would like a flag flown, send me a flag with the name that you want on it and I will gladly have it flown for you. It really is a neat program.

**Meal of the day was some BBQ chicken and baked mac and cheese. They finally had white chocolate macadamia nut cookies again so I had to try one again. Yep, they’re still good!

29 May 07: Today was another great day (my day off is always good) but I am hurting right now. I guess the sun was a lot hotter than usual today and I am burnt on my arms and legs from the walk out to work. (Of course the sun bathing didn’t help but I have sock lines so I know it wasn’t from me laying out.) We did our normal BX inventory, laundry and uniforms thing and now I’m sitting in bed shivering from my sun burn! Ouch!!

30 May 07:  Today I finally got some more sleep which was great but then stupid people had to piss me off at work.  Oh well, I’m over it.  Anyway, today was Page’s birthday and I gave him a little present which shocked him.  I wasn’t there to see it but I guess he got all red.  He didn’t want anyone to know it was his birthday so, of course, when we got on the bus, I announced it to everyone.  ;)   I figured he was one of those “Don’t tell anyone but I really want them to know” kind of people so I shared.  BK took pictures so hopefully I will get to see them soon.  Other than that, nothing exciting.

**Meal of the day was a burger.  I’m really starting to miss the chicken!

31 May 07:  May is finally on it’s last day!!  Whoo hoo!  We still have a long way to go but as I’ve mentioned before, baby steps!  I got another package from the Bunco gals and again, the spoiled me!!  I got more books, magazines, snacks, wipes, body wash, some really neat sparkly pencils and a sweet card!  I love you ladies!!

**Meal of the day was a burger… again!!!!
